How we make money

We charge for one thing — and only one thing.

$15 a month for ImperaBudget. That subscription is the entire business model. It's how we keep the lights on, pay the team, and pay our bills with Plaid, Stripe, Supabase, and the rest of the stack you see at the bottom of every page.

What that means in practice

  • No ads. Not on the Home tab, not in your transactions list, not in your inbox.
  • No data resale. We don't package your transactions to anyone. Read the Privacy Policy for the long version.
  • No nudges to buy other companies' products. Some apps make most of their money sending you to a credit card signup or a partner brokerage. We don't — because we're not paid for it.

When we recommend something

If we suggest a financial product — a high-yield savings account, an account type, a tool — and we have no affiliate relationship with the provider, we mark it independent.

If at some point we ever do partner with someone, we'll tell you up front. We'd rather not have that conversation than be vague about it.

How we'd know we'd betrayed it

  • If we ever take money to push you toward a specific account or product.
  • If we ever sell, license, or share your transactions with a third party.
  • If we ever introduce a free tier whose unstated job is to surface ads or partner placements.

Any of those would mean we're no longer in the business we promised.
